Conference “Knowledge and Devotion” | Save the Date

The Ascending and Descending Spiritual Paths

Fri – Sun, September 6-8, 2024 | Gut Saunstorf Monastery – Place of Stillness

The ancient Taoist symbol of Yin and Yang describes the two primal cosmic forces that we encounter within ourselves as we walk an inner path and seek to come closer answering the question of “Who am I”? The yin-aspect – the left hand of God – is the path of devotion, an inner downward movement to the origin of our humanity, a principle of the female primordial power. The yang-aspect – the right hand of God – describes the path of knowledge. It is an inner upward movement towards dissolution in the Highest, a principle of the male elemental force. People on the inner path are often faced with the challenge of integrating these seemingly contradictory movements within themselves. We often favour one path or the other, excluding aspects of our soul.

From the perspective of the eternal wisdom teachings, these paths cannot be separated, for the inner path is a path of uniting these two primal forces within us. As long as the path of knowledge and the path of devotion are perceived as two opposing movements, how can these two spiritual paths become one in our consciousness? The various elements of the conference will take you on an inner journey and teach you the experience of the ascending and descending paths. As you experience both paths in their ‘cosmic flow’, a deeper vision of a unified experience integrating both forces and directions may emerge within you: Knowledge and Devotion.

Both, Mary Angelon Young – spiritual teacher and close disciple of Master Lee Lozowick and OM C. Parkin, wisdom teacher and philosopher, will guide you on an inner journey of discernment and incipient union.

“Through God’s left hand flows the female path of descent into love and death and through the right flows the male path of ascent into truth and life. But love without truth is worthless – and truth without love is worthless”.

OM C. Parkin

OM C. Parkin is a spiritual master, mystic, philosopher and book author. He is the initiator of the OM Foundation Inner Science, director of the Mystery School Enneallionce – School for Inner Work and founder of the modern Monastery Gut Saunstorf – Place of Stillness.

The teaching of the Silent Tradition, which he also calles Inner Science, is based on the one hand on the Eastern advaita tradition (teaching of non-duality, best known representative in the West is Ramana Maharshi), as well as on the teachings of the Integral Yoga of the Indian sage Aurobindo Ghose, and on the other hand on Western paths of experience (e.g. Christian mysticism, Georges I. Gurdjieff: The Fourth Way).

You can learn more about the ascending and descending path in the book Intelligence of Awakening by OM C. Parkin.
